When a related screen is defined, the platform automatically creates a Details Link. A Details Link controls the navigation behaviour of the view details icon shown next to records in related panels, determining which screen opens when a user selects it.
In most cases Details Links do not need to be configured manually. The platform automatically determines the correct destination based on the related object and screen configuration.
When Manual Configuration May Be Required
Manual configuration may be needed when a screen containing related objects is used in more than one module and you want to control which module users are taken to when opening a related record. In these cases, the Details Link lets you specify the exact destination.
Details Link Components
A Details Link defines the destination for a related record navigation link and consists of three fields:
Application - the application containing the destination screen
Module - the module where the destination screen appears
Screen - the screen that should open

Details Links are managed at Layouts \> Details Links in the Configuration application.
