Navigating Applications and Screens

The platform uses a common interface structure across all applications.

The platform uses a common interface structure across all applications. Understanding the main areas helps you move through screens and locate data more quickly.

Main Interface Areas

The interface is made up of three primary areas: the Top Bar, the Side Menu, and the Main Data Area.

Top Bar

The Top Bar runs across the top of the interface and contains the following controls:

  1. Menu icon - shows or hides the Side Menu

  2. Instance selector - selects an instance; available instances are determined by your configuration

  3. Application selector - selects an application; available applications depend on your role

  4. Pop-up Help - opens a help window for the current screen; content is created by your application configurator

  5. Knowledge Base link - opens the Knowledge Base in a new tab

  6. User Profile - displays your current user profile

  7. Log Out - signs you out of the platform

Side Menu

The Side Menu appears on the left-hand side of the screen. It can be shown or hidden using the Menu icon in the Top Bar.

The Side Menu is hierarchical. Modules are logical groupings of screens. Each module contains one or more screens, and each screen displays data associated with a single object.

Main Data Area

The Main Data Area displays the selected object's data and, where applicable, related data.

The upper panel shows a list of records for the selected object. Lower panels display related data. Selecting a different record in the upper panel updates the related panels to reflect that selection.

Move Through Records

Each panel includes paging controls. The inner arrows move to the previous or next page; the outer arrows move to the first or last page. Panels display up to 50 records per page.

Refresh the Screen

If you are working across multiple browser tabs or windows, data may have been updated elsewhere. Use Refresh to reload the current screen and display the most recent data.

View the Latest Records

The Latest button filters the screen to show the most recently created records. Use this when you want to focus on newly added data.

Switch Between Summary and Detail Views

Some screens offer Summary and Detail views, which control how many columns are shown.

Summary view is the default. It shows a reduced set of columns - typically the most commonly used attributes - to keep the screen uncluttered for day-to-day work. Which attributes appear in Summary view is determined during configuration.

Detail view shows the full set of available columns. Use it when you need access to attributes not shown in Summary view.

To switch views, click Detail to expand the column set or Summary to return to the reduced set.

Not all screens have a separate Detail view. Where all attributes are shown by default, the Summary and Detail options may not be present.

Sort Data

Click the sort icon at the top of a column to sort data by that column.

Adjust Column Width

Hover over the divider between two column headers until the resize cursor appears, then click and drag to adjust the column width.

Use Linked Data

Underlined values indicate a link to a related screen. Selecting the link opens that screen filtered to the selected record.

Open a Related Record from the Eye Icon

On related object panels in the lower part of a screen, an Eye icon may appear next to a record. A blue eye icon indicates a link is available; selecting it opens that record in its own screen. A grey eye icon means no link is available.

View Revision History

The History icon at the right-hand end of a record opens its revision history, showing:

  • version number

  • all attribute values at that version

  • the user ID of the person who made the change

  • the date and time of the change

  • the audit comment entered when the record was edited

  • the process name, if the change was made by a process

Tooltips

Hovering over a data attribute displays a tooltip describing the purpose of that attribute.

Export Data

The Export button exports records from a panel to an Excel workbook. You can export either the records currently visible on screen or all records returned by the applied filter, record exports are capped at 50,000 rows. Large exports may take time to complete.

Filter Records

The Filter button limits the records shown in the top panel. The button turns green when a filter is active. You can also filter directly to a single visible record by clicking the filter icon to the left of that record.

For full filtering instructions, see Filtering Data in Screens.

Creating, Editing, and Deleting Records

For instructions on managing records, see Managing Records in Screens.
