Whenever a record is added, modified, or deleted in an object, the platform requires an audit comment explaining the reason for the change. This is enforced at save time — a record cannot be saved without one.
For each change, the platform records the audit comment, the previous content of the record, the name of the user who made the change, and the date and time of the change.
Viewing Record History
You can view the full change history for any record directly from its screen.
Locate the record.
Select the History icon on the right-hand side of the record.
The history view shows each saved version of the record, with the version number, all previous attribute values, the user who made the change, the date and time, and the audit comment entered at the time.
Changes Made by Processes
When a process modifies data, the process name is recorded in the audit history rather than a user-entered comment. The name of the user who ran the process is also recorded.
Deleted Records
When a record is deleted, an audit record is created. However, the audit record for a deleted record cannot be accessed after deletion — there is no way to view it retrospectively.
Access Limitations
Audit records can only be viewed from the screen. They cannot currently be extracted, accessed via the OData API, or used within a process.
